A Five-Day Immersion in the Applachian Mountains with Luis Qusipe Calcina and Karina Quispe Macchaca of Q’eros Nation, Peru
Over the last year, we have been weaving a shared prayer between the soft, ancient folds of the Grandmother Mountains of Appalachia, and the crystalline altars of light in the Andes Mountains of Peru. This is a shared prayer of union between North and South, water and stone, and Mother and Father.
This spring, we will gather again— nourishing the wise, wild, feminine forces of the Earth in Appalachia, and recieving direct transmissions from the Ñusta, as we build and deepen our Ñusta mishas, listen to the transmissions from Earth + Stars, and weave the colors of rainbow light into our bodies and the Earth. This five-day immersion will by guided by Luis and his daughter, Karina— a rare chance to learn from an elder and one of the youngest carriers of the Machacca Florez Quispe Apaza altars— a woman.

Our last immersion at Moon Rising was stunningly beautiful and we are delighted to continue building community with our friends in North Carolina.
The finer details of our time together are still emerging, but you can expect elements of what we offer on our annual Peru retreat to be woven into our time together. Our main areas of focus are traveling to sacred sites, receiving karpay, creating traditional offerings of gratitude, receiving teachings and building sacred altars for personal and collective awakening, and praying together in the sweat lodge on the property. We will release a full immersion trajectory in January.

Moon Rising is a sacred nature immersion and healing space nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, near Blowing Rock, North Carolina.
The medicine of this potent space is felt upon entering the gates and exploring the 22 acres. The land is full of spaces intentionally created and maintained with love. From the crystal-powered Chakra Garden overflowing with vegetables, herbs, and wild flowers, serenity at Spirit Spot, cold water immersion at Buddha's Beach, silence at Moss Point, grounding at Big Rock, exploring at Opportunity Bridge, and going inward at Kunda's Cave, there is no shortage of dedicated spaces to be in presence and peace.
Guest rooms (single + doubles) are simple, cozy, and inspiring. All rooms are provided with 100% organic cotton sheets, indoor and outdoor towels, luggage racks, hangers, and small dressers. LUIS QUISPE CALCINA
Maestro Luis Quispe Calcina is a respected Pampamesayoq (wisdom-keeper) of the Q’ero Nation of Peru. He served on the Q’ero Nation council in 2019 and is a phenomenal reader of Coca Leaves. Known as the last living descendants of the Inka bloodline in Peru, and the keepers of the Coca wisdom, the Q’ero still follow the ancient traditions of their ancestors by paying spiritual Ayni (reciprocity) to Mother Earth (Pachamama) and the Mountain Spirits/Guardians (Apukuna) through traditional Despachos prayer offerings and (Saminchay) beautiful blessing Fire Ceremonies. Luis dedicates his life to sharing ancestral wisdom and traditional ceremony with humility and cultural integrity to ensure the wisdom of his lineage continues to feed the spirit of the Earth and benefits All people far into future generations.
KARINA QUISPE MACHACCA
RICHARD WADE WILLIS
Richard Wade Willis is dedicated to helping his clients move through challenging spaces of addiction and psychological suffering toward liberation and well-being. He began working with plant medicines in the Peruvian Amazon in 2013, after recovering from many years of severe addiction, and found their capacities for healing to radically shift the course of his life. His subsequent commitment to plant dieta with Ayahuasca, and awakening to the vast healing potential of spirit medicine, reached new heights when he began his apprenticeship with Don Agustin Machacca Florez of Q’eros Nation in 2016. In recent years, he has committed to a long-term initiatory path with the Lakota people, and the Sundance. Each year, he teaches courses on dreamwork and Peruvian Shamanism that culminate in an in-person group journey to the high mountains of Peru or sacred location in the United States, and he consistently offers ceremonies, workshops and gatherings focused on supporting humans in returning to the life-nourishing gifts of Earth and her medicines.
KATE VREDEVOOGD
Kate Vredevoogd is a medicine maker, herbalist, ceremonialist, and author devoted to the living relationship between earth, spirit, and community. She is a Reiki practitioner and guide in shamanic journeywork, and spent a decade abroad working as a translator, and Spanish–English interpreter. For many years, Kate has walked alongside our dear Andean wisdom teachers, learning through practice, presence, and reciprocity. She is grateful to be part of Pakarina Wisdom and its ayllu, offering her listening, craft, and care in service to shared remembering.
